Welcome! I’m glad you are here!

I am a writer and a clinical psychologist. Accordingly, this website contains some poetry and short fiction, as well as a blog about psychology and mental health, which I conscientiously believe to be non-fiction. Please navigate to what interests you and leave comments if you like.

In case you are wondering, here is a little more about me:

I was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. I moved to Haifa, Israel at the age of four and then to Toronto, Canada at the age of thirteen. I completed my undergraduate and Master’s degrees in cognitive neuroscience at York University and the University of Toronto, respectively, and then moved to the States for my doctoral degree. I received a Psy.D. degree from Rutgers University and have been practicing as a clinical psychologist since 2016, first at Princeton University’s counseling center and, since January 2024, as a private practitioner.

I write poetry and short stories. I have written about a variety of different subjects, but one of my recent projects has been a cycle of short stories meant to explore the emotional experience of being an immigrant, or a stranger in general. You might guess, based on my brief biography above, how I came to be interested in exploring this topic. I hope to publish that collection of stories as a book.

Perhaps one day some of my observations about psychological processes will also become a book. For now, I am very happy to write them as separate blog posts. The topics I write about in my posts are usually ones that have come up multiple times in my work, and I usually decide to write about them if I see that some particular idea, metaphor, intervention, reframe, etc., comes up repeatedly and seems useful to multiple clients. If these ideas become useful to you I will be very glad.
